What you see in the video is why we call mold the silent disaster. This Raleigh business had suffered minor water damage, but the building was not appropriately dried once the damage and the leak that caused it was repaired. The remaining moisture allowed mold spores to expand and eventually grow through the entire structure; no one thought to look in the crawlspaces or behind the walls.

As you can see, the mold infested nearly every wall and ceiling. In some areas, the framing and support structures were affected as well. In several locations, the growth had spread down the walls and infested an old, wooden floor as well.

Despite the extent of the problem, we began clean-up by sealing off the unaffected areas with plastic sheeting. Once enclosed, our technicians started the demolition and removal of all infested drywall, flooring, ceiling tiles and panels, and wooden support structure. There was even damage to a staircase. We also removed the infested insulation from the crawlspaces and behind the walls as well. It took us almost a full week to complete the processes.

Next, we sprayed every surface with an anti-fungal agent and removed loose spores by either wiping down every surface or vacuuming them up with a commercial grade machine and special HEPA filters designed to catch and trap even a single spore. Cleaning everything took several days to complete.

Replacement of demolished property took another week. That involved installing new insulation, hanging new drywall and ceiling panels, and then painting every surface the owner wanted to be covered. The most labor-intensive part was laying a new wood floor to match the look of the original. Installation and replacement took us another week.

It was a long process for our restoration team, but we are proud to say the business owner was thrilled with the results. He even used our company slogan to describe how it looked on the final inspection. “They made it like it never even happened.”
